Wine, coffee, jazz and blues. This is what Michael Daigle wanted to bring to a redeveloping section of Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado, just down from the popular Pearl Street Mall pedestrian area. Having grown up in Louisiana, the menu and attitude would be New Orleans style ("en vie" is Cajun slang, the meaning of which is "to have a yearning or desire for something"). Architecturally, the style would be modern. IN.VISION ARCHITECTURE helped Michael bring his dream to reality with straight-forward elegance, employing the creative and judicious use of steel, concrete, stained wood and contemporary lighting. Among the many custom-designed elements is the curvilinear bar. The bar top is concrete set into a curving steel pan, stained with subtle shades of green and divided with copper bars set in the pan edgewise. The whole construction was then sealed with a food-grade finish, the gloss of the sealant deepening the effect of the stain. Other custom features include the steel, wall-mounted bar back unit and the circular, perforated steel enclosure around the fire sprinkler line entry and controls.
